A few ways of saving a recipe need your phone's permission before they can run. Tradish asks for these only when you first use the feature, and only for what that feature needs. Here is what each one is for, and how to turn a permission back on if you said no earlier.

Which permission each method needs

• Camera is for scanning a recipe card. Tradish uses your camera to photograph the card or page and read the text.
• Microphone and speech recognition are for voice memos. The microphone records what you say, and speech recognition turns it into a transcript Tradish can build a recipe from.
• Photo library access is for uploading a photo. Tradish needs to reach your library to pull in the picture you pick.

If you have not used one of these methods yet, you may not have been asked for its permission at all. The prompt appears the first time you try it.

Re-enabling a permission you declined

If you tapped "Don't Allow" earlier, the feature stays blocked until you turn the permission back on in your phone's Settings. Tradish cannot re-ask from inside the app once it has been declined, so this is a quick trip to Settings and back.

1. Open your phone's Settings.
2. Find and tap Tradish in the list of apps.
3. Turn on the permission you need: Camera, Microphone, Speech Recognition, or Photos.
4. Return to Tradish and try the save method again.

The names and exact path vary a little between iPhone and Android, but you are always looking for Tradish in your Settings and the specific toggle for that permission.

Why the permission matters

Each of these save methods simply cannot work without its permission. Scanning has no camera to read from, a voice memo has no audio to transcribe, and a photo upload has nothing to reach into. Turning the permission on is all it takes to unblock the feature. You can leave the others off if you never use them.
